Week 1, Day 3

The 13 hour timezone difference between Cheong-Ju and Washington, DC has been dragging me down during the last 3 days. If I were a little Shi-Tsu, this is what I would've looked like.
But, today seems to be the day where my body clock is finally adjusting to the new timezone as I only woke up once last night :-)  A big milestone indeed. Here is a before picture prior to this SCC trip.
By the way, he's our family dog named Kiwi. He was supposed to be our 11 year old twin boys' dog which they absolutely promised to walk and feed. You all know what happens after.... I became his master (actually, a servant is more likely) who gets the dog walking duty every night in rain or snow. Anyway, I am starting to miss the family at home, even the night walk duty.

OK. Back to SCC:

Here is our "ride". In Korea, many celebrities/entertainers typically rides in this type of vehicle. Thus, we tend to get many stares from the locals. Hey, maybe we are celebrities... at least for 3 weeks.

When we arrived at the City Hall, we noticed a large picture frame on the wall looked familiar yet looked very different from yesterday. It had our pictures!!
This maybe a good time to introduce a couple of folks in the picture. Far right is our official interpreter who has been doing an amazing job of translating on the fly during all of our meetings. The next lady (who is actually expecting her 2nd child) is our SCC advisor who is in charge of the schedule & logistics. So, they are our "life line".

Here are the pictures in the frame:
This picture was taken right after the SCC Kickoff meeting with the mayor & his staff. You can guess who is the mayor in the picture (hint: he is not wearing a dark suit in a 85F+ temperature, a "Smarter Dresser"). Note the IBM SCC banner, too. Below is from the official Kickoff meeting yesterday.

We also found out that the Kickoff event made a huge splash in both national and local media. KBS, a national news media aired a 2 minute news segment last night. The HD video file is 140 MB so I can't upload here. We will figure something out so we can share.
